Subject:  National Transit Institute - Transit ITS Regional Workshop

Dear Transit Colleague:

The National Transit Institute (NTI) in collaboration with the FTA will be conducting a “Transit ITS Regional Workshop” on June 24-25, 2008 in Philadelphia, PA.  The workshop is free to public transit agency and government employees.  The fee for contractors and consultants is $300.00.

The workshop will be facilitated by Carol Schweiger, Vice President, TransSystems.  Carol is actively involved in the planning and implementation of ITS applications in the transit industry.  In addition, she is the author of several TCRP and other studies on ITS in the transit industry.  This is an introductory level workshop geared to transit professionals, including planners, engineers, and operations managers that will be involved in the planning, implementation, and ongoing management of transit ITS applications.

The goal of the workshop is to increase awareness of Intelligent Transportations Systems (ITS) and how the transit core suite of technologies can be developed to deliver safer and more efficient transit services.  After successfully completing this workshop, participants will be able to:

- Discuss the basic ITS applications for transit agencies

- Explain how to integrate transit applications into the Regional ITS Architecture

- Describe how system engineering should be applied to planning, designing, and implementing ITS projects

- Relate guidelines for successful ITS procurements

- Identify strategic planning approaches for transit ITS projects

- Review successful transit ITS applications

Space in the workshop is limited.  Register online using the link below:
