Subject: National Transit Institute Online Course - Introduction to Environmental Impact Assessment
The National Transit Institute (NTI) is presenting a free online course ($275 for consultants & contractors) entitled "Introduction to Environmental Impact Assessment." NTI is located at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey as part of the Voorhees Transportation Center (VTC) in the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy. It is funded through a grant from the Federal Transit Administration. This six-week, six-unit online course begins Wednesday October 17, 2007 and ends Sunday, November 30, 2007. Each unit will take 5-7 hours.
The course introduces the environmental impact assessment process as required under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). It reviews NEPA’s legislative history and implementation by the Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ), details important considerations in the project planning stage, and provides an overview of the classes of action and FTA implementation as required by SAFETEA-LU Environmental Review Process Final Guidance.
