Subject:  New National Transit Institute T-Classes

 

Dear Transit Colleague:

The National Transit Institute (NTI), in cooperation with the Transit Cooperative Research Program (TCRP) and the American Public Transportation Association (APTA), offers a series of T-Classes each year that highlight specific TCRP reports.  These reports address current topics and trends in the transit industry.  NTI has announced the following two new learning events in March:

 

Bus Rapid Transit Practitioner’s Guide (TCRP Report #118)
March 6, 2008 - 2:00pm - 3:30pm Eastern Time
o       Bus Rapid Transit Practitioner’s Guide is based on TCRP’s Report #118.  This presentation will be of interest to transit professionals and policy makers in the planning and implementation of BRT systems, offering the results of recent research into the costs, impacts, and effectiveness of implementing various BRT components, including packaging of different components related to different BRT development scenarios.  This T-Class will be presented by Alan Danaher and Kelly Blume of Kittelson & Associates, Inc. which produced the Practitioner’s Guide.

Transit-Oriented Development (TCRP Report #95, Chapter 17)
Traveler Response to Transportation System Changes
March 20, 2008 - 2:00pm - 3:30pm Eastern Time
Transit –Oriented Development, Traveler Response to Transportation System Changes is based on TCRP’s Report #95, Chapter 17.  This offering will be of interest to transit, transportation, and land use planners, and transportation and planning professionals at MPOs, and local, state, and federal government agencies.  This T-class will be presented by Jay Evans of Jay Evan of Cambridge Systematics.
 

The T-Classes last 90 minutes and are delivered in a telephone conference format.  Expert panelists discuss the topics during the first 60 minutes.  The last 30 minutes are dedicated to open phones for questions from the audience.
