Dear Transit Colleague:
Letitia Thompson was appointed as the Regional Administrator of the Federal Transit Administration's Philadelphia Mid-Atlantic Region in July 2007, replacing Susan Borinsky who was reassigned to FTA Headquarters in Washington, DC as the Associate Administrator, Office of Planning and Environment.
As Regional Administrator, Ms. Thompson directs a regional office and two metropolitan offices of 25 professional and paraprofessional staff and manages a Federal transportation program in excess of $6 billion. The Mid-Atlantic Region includes five states (Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia) and the District of Columbia.
Ms. Thompson has over twenty years of professional and managerial experience in the U.S. Department of Transportation. She began her career in the Federal Highway Office of Planning. Before assuming the Regional Administrator position in Philadelphia, Ms. Thompson was a Program Manager in both the Atlanta and New York Regional Offices. In 1989 she was appointed as the Director of Program and Planning in the New York Regional Office. In March 1998 she was appointed as the Regional Administrator in New York Office and in 2006 she served as Interim Regional Administrator in Denver Office. She has also served as a Special Liaison to the Administrator in FTA Headquarters in Washington, DC.
