The National Transit Institute (NTI) is presenting two workshops in Region 10 on Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Paratransit. The first workshop, “Managing the Cost of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Paratransit”, is in Portland, OR on January 23-24, 2008 and the second workshop, “Comprehensive ADA Paratransit Eligibility”, is in Seattle, WA on February 12-13, 2008.
For both courses, tuition shall be waived for federal, state and local government employees who work in transportation or related areas. Fee for contractors and consultants: $300.00.
The “Managing the Cost of ADA Paratransit” workshop will bring together participants from a variety of systems to compare experiences with managing costs and review available information about successful cost management methods. The workshop will make extensive use of information developed in projects conducted with support of the Transit Cooperative Research Program (TCRP). Additional information will be incorporated as needed to provide a complete picture of cost management options.
The “Comprehensive ADA Paratransit Eligibility” workshop begins with a review of ADA paratransit criteria and then reviews ADA paratransit eligibility requirements. The two-day session presents more detailed information about alternative eligibility determination processes, with a focus on in-person interview and assessment options. It also addresses "difficult" determination issues and presents options for trip-by-trip eligibility determinations.
