The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) is dedicated to delivering results that matter to the American people, FTA supports, improves, and promotes effective public transportation, the Nation's fastest growing mode of travel. Through the administration, management, and oversight of an $8 billion annual grant program, FTA supports the development and construction of subway, light rail, and bus systems to help communities provide travel choices; improve access to jobs and health care; drive economic growth; and protect the environment.

A position in the Office of Operations and Program Management for the Region X Office has an opening for a permanent full-time Transportation Program Specialist, GS-9/11/12/13. The office is responsible for administering regional activities relating to the oversight of projects pursuant to the Federal Transit Act, as amended. The transit programs of Region X are characterized by the highest degree of complexity and sensitivity due to the number of persons served, the type and number of on-going projects, the involvement of large sums of money, the coordination of different transit needs, the involvement of multiple governmental jurisdictions and the level of particularly complex, novel and politically sensitive issues.
