The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) will be offering its course on Alternatives Analysis on April 10-12 in Washington, D.C. and in November in San Francisco, CA. An alternatives analysis is the planning requirement for projects seeking New and Small Starts funding. This course describes a number of elements of alternatives analyses including FTA requirements. The courses were last offered in Denver, CO, and Philadelphia, PA last September and November respectively. These courses were well attended, so we encourage you to register for the new offerings soon as our space is limited. They will be taught by Don Emerson of Parsons Brinckerhoff (PB) Consult, and Jim Ryan and Ron Fisher from the FTA Office of Planning and the Environment.

For your information, the agenda from the previous offering is located at http://www.fta.dot.gov/printer_friendly/planning_environment_5194.html. The agenda for the new offerings will be the same.

A block of rooms has been set aside at the Washington Court Hotel, Washington, D.C. Course registration can be made at http://www.regonline.com/Checkin.asp?EventId=122158.

Email notification will be sent once the hotel accommodations for San Francisco are finalized for the November course offering.

If you have any questions, please contact John Witmer at 206-220-7965, or email john.witmer@dot.gov.

Sincerely,

R.F. Krochalis
