International Right of Way Association's Federal Agency Update Conference

The purpose of this bulletin is to encourage transit agencies to send key employees involved in real estate activities to the International Right of Way Association’s (IRWA), Federal Agency Update, scheduled for January 13-15, 2009, in Las Vegas, NV. This educational conference offers over twenty transportation sessions during the three day event.

These sessions promise to be timely and educational. Added to this year’s conference is a session on changes in the Grant Management Requirements Circular 5010.1D. Additional topics include the following:

• Monitoring Relocation Acquisition (What the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) looks for in a Compliance Review)
• Acquisition of Foreclosed Properties
• Implementing Transit Oriented Development
• Difficult Relocations: Can you handle them?
• Real Estate Appraisal: Understanding what you are asking for
• Distressed Properties and Declining Markets.
  
As in the past, for FTA-related training, we will allow Grantees to bill a Federal project for the cost of their attendance. This is an excellent opportunity for our grantees, FTA personnel, Program Management Oversight Contractors and consultants working on PMO contracts to learn what is required on federally supported projects.
