Transit ITS Regional Workshop: December 9-10, 2008, Cambridge, Massachusetts. This workshop is a free ($300 for consultants and contractors). The goal of this workshop is to increase awareness of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and how the transit core suite of technologies can be deployed to deliver safer and more efficient transit services. For more information and to register online for this workshop, please follow this link at http://www.ntionline.com/CourseInfo.asp?CourseNumber=TRI-26.

Characteristics and Planning of Bus Rapid Transit: December 16-17, 2008, Rensselaer, New York (near Albany). This workshop is a free ($450 for consultants and contractors). Concerns over urban mobility, limited public financial resources, and the costs of rail transit have prompted many transit agencies to re-examine existing technologies and to embrace creative ways of improving service quality in a cost-effective manner. This course provides an overview of the Federal Transit Administration document “Characteristics of Bus Rapid Transit for Decision-Making” supplemented with case study analysis and hands on practice in exploring bus rapid transit alternatives. For more information and to register online for this workshop, please follow this link at http://www.ntionline.com/CourseInfo.asp?CourseNumber=ID030.

If you are interested in attending, you may register on line or use the attached registration form and fax it to the number on the form. Seating is limited for this course, so register early. To see other classes that NTI offers, check out their homepage at http://www.ntionline.com.
