REGION 10 BULLETIN NO: 06-16
SUBJECT: Sustainability and Public Transportation Workshop
PROGRAM AREA: Planning
DATE: June 29, 2006
Join in the community synonymous with sustainability – July 16-18, 2006, Marriott Portland Downtown Waterfront, Portland, Oregon – for the American Public Transportation Association’s (APTA) 2006 Sustainability and Public Transportation Workshop.
The workshop is the premier event where best practices in sustainable public transportation will be explored. Hear practical, real-world strategies, as well as cutting-edge speakers. Take the mystery out of sustainability with hands-on technical tours by our host, Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District of Oregon (TriMet).
Learn how transit systems can save money and improve efficiency, lessen environmental impacts and promote land use strategies that encourage public transit use.
Who Should Attend
Transit system board members, general managers, senior officials, and staff that are interested in implementing sustainability in both operations and capital construction. Individuals who plan, design, and promote sustainable development and livable communities. MPOs and other public agencies interested in sustainable development. Transit agencies that use joint development to “jump start” growth around their transit stations, as well as business members interested in providing “green” services. Citizen leaders focused on advancing quality-of-life issues in their neighborhoods.
