SUBJECT: Transit Safety and Security Division Courses

The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) sponsors training activities provided by the Transit Safety and Security Division of the U.S. Department of Transportation. The Division serves as the primary training unit for the FTA Office of Safety and Security. A number of courses are currently scheduled through September 2006. The purpose of this bulletin is to inform you of the availability of these courses and for the steps required to register for the courses.

A materials fee must be submitted with the registration form to enroll in each class. This fee covers the expense for textbooks, classroom supplies, printing, and shipping. Registrations are not accepted by telephone nor are they accepted without a materials fee. Materials fees are refundable
if cancellation is received in writing 30 days prior to the class start date.
To register for a course, please complete the attached form. Mail your registration form and check or money order payable to Transportation Safety Institute (TSI) Transit Safety and Security Division to the address below. VISA or MasterCard is also accepted. You may fax registration forms for seminars that require on materials fee or for payments by credit card. You will receive confirmation letter 30 days prior to class.

In addition to assigned course sites, agencies may offer their facilities as a host site. Host Transit Safety and Security Division Courses sites/facilities can be provided by state agencies, transit safety and insurance organizations, and organizations, such as regional or state transit associations. Training may also be conducted in conjunction with industry conferences or coordinated with specific agency initiatives. To host a training course please do the following:
- Submit a request in writing for a course or seminar on your agency letterhead or complete the attached host request form and fax or mail it to TSI.
- Propose two potential calendar dates for the class.
- A confirmation of the training will be mailed or faxed.
- All requests will be considered.
