The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Region 10 Planning and Program Development Office is announcing a job opening for a permanent full-time Transportation Program Specialist.

Dedicated to delivering results that matter to the American people, the FTA supports, improves, and promotes effective public transportation, the Nation's fastest growing mode of travel. Through the administration, management, and oversight of a $10 billion annual grant program, FTA supports the development and construction of subway, light rail, and bus systems to help communities provide travel choices; improve access to jobs and health care; drive economic growth; and protect the environment.

In this position, the Transportation Program Specialist will provide assistance in administration of regional activities related to grant and project development; provide technical assistance to grant recipients; analyze grant applications for compliance in planning, capital and operating assistance programs; performs post-approval monitoring of FTA grant programs; reviews environmental documents and makes recommendations for action based on NEPA and other federal environmental requirements; prepares reports; and conducts analyses of inputs relating to FTA goals for grant processing and environmental reviews.

The ideal candidate for this position must possess professional skills and knowledge to communicate effectively with transportation officials of all levels on a variety of issues; be proficient in grant development and program management tasks; negotiate and resolve matters in dispute; find solutions to problems; and advise on project status.
