Expediting Grants through DOL

During the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) grant-making process, many grants are referred through the Department of Labor (DOL) to labor unions for their response. At the same time, DOL sends a copy of the referral letter to the transit agency for their input.
After receiving a DOL referral letter, and to help expedite the grant process, we suggest contacting the DOL point of contact in the letter (usually at the end of the letter) to see if there is any more information that is needed. Often times the process is delayed because DOL has to wait the full time period when no response is received, so it is in the transit agency's best interest to respond.
