Linda Gehrke serves as the Regional Administrator for the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) in the Region 8 Denver Office. Region 8 is responsible for the administration of Federal funds for public transportation purposes in Colorado, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah and Wyoming.
In her previous position, Linda was the Deputy Regional Administrator for Region 10 in Seattle, WA for 14 years and a Community Planner for two years. Her responsibilities included the development and delivery of FTAís capital, operating, planning and tribal programs; grants management; environmental analysis; technical assistance to external and internal customers; and overseeing administrative functions.
Before joining the FTA, Linda worked at the US Department of Commerce, Economic Development Administration, as a Community Planner for 10 years. She assisted governments and organizations in developing and implementing economic development programs in areas of high unemployment and low per capita income, responding to disasters, addressing defense downsizing, and completing the federal environmental process.
Linda served as an Aeronautical Cartographer with the US Department of Commerce, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration where she created aeronautical charts for low flying aircraft. In addition she was a Community Planner with Hillsborough County, Florida and Klickitat County, Washington.
Linda holds a Bachelorís of Arts degree in Geography from Western Washington University and a Masterís of Public Administration from Seattle University. Linda also attended urban and regional planning programs at the University of Virginia and Florida State University with a concentration in regional planning, resource management and environmental planning.
Linda is married with three daughters.
