On August 10, 2005, President Bush signed the Safe, Accountable, Flexible, Efficient Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users (SAFETEA-LU).  The transit provisions contained in Title III of SAFETEA-LU have been codified in and amended Title 49 of the United States Code (USC), Chapter 53.
