Q. I have received information relative to a new program being implemented by the Department of Homeland Security relative to the participation in the "E-Verify" program. As a grant recipient, is FTA planning on offering grantees guidance as to the roles and responsibilities in this new program?
A. The E-Verify program is a DHS-sponsored employment verification system that applies to Federal contractors and subcontractors. As grant recipients, FTA grantees generally are not classified as "contractors" for purposes of E-Verify, unless they are already required to comply with E-Verify under a pre-existing obligation to DHS - see www.dhs.gov/E-Verify.
