2/17/2016 The ADA and Fixed Route Service Requirements (Webinar 3 of FTA’s ADA training series)

Join us for “The ADA and Fixed Route Service Requirements,” the latest in our ADA training series, at 2 p.m. EDT Wednesday, February 17. The hour-long training will address topics such as alternative transportation, priority seating, stop announcements, and more. This webinar covers material from Chapters 2 and 6 of the ADA Circular. Participants will have an opportunity to ask questions.

The ADA Circular webinar series is designed for FTA grantees. Because attendance space is limited, we request that each agency register for a single spot. View past webinars on our Civil Rights Training Materials page.

2/18/2016 National Transit Database’s Uniform System of Accounts Webinar

Join FTA at a webinar to learn about the proposed changes to the Uniform System Accounts used in the National Transit Database (NTD), FTA’s primary database for statistics on the transit industry. More than 800 transit providers in urbanized areas report to the NTD through its online reporting system. Reporting requirements are governed by a Uniform System of Accounts (USOA) originally published in 1977. FTA proposes to update the accounting system to better align with today’s practices. Proposed changes will:

  • Address inconsistencies in the USOA due to changes in technology and transit organization structure
  • Revise accounting principles and object classes in USOA to align with accounting and industry leading practices and standards
  • Provide additional cost allocation guidance to enhance consistency in each transit agency’s cost allocation model and methodology

See the February 3, 2016 Federal Register notice soliciting comments. The webinar outlining the proposed changes will be offered 2-4 PM EST Thursday, February 18, 2016. Registration is required.

2/24/2016 Agency Safety Plan Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) and Proposed National Safety Plan Webinar Series

Join us for a webinar series hosted by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA)’s Office of Transit Safety and Oversight to discuss the Public Transportation Agency Safety Plan Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM), and the proposed National Public Transportation Safety Plan. During the webinar, FTA will discuss the provisions of both the proposed rule and plan, and how industry stakeholders can get involved in the regulatory process.

The proposed Agency Safety Plan rule would require any public transportation system that receives Federal financial assistance to certify and implement a safety plan based on the principles of Safety Management System (SMS). The National Safety Plan is not a regulation, but would be FTA’s primary tool to disseminate guidance, technical assistance, templates, and other resources related to safety rulemaking to help transit providers improve their safety performance. Comments are due by April 5, 2016.

This session is targeted at small urban, rural and tribal agencies. We also are offering webinar sessions for bus agencies and multimodal agencies. All webinars will offer the same content. FTA recommends registering for one session that fits your schedule.
