February 18, 2011. Request for Proposals (RFP): Transit Safety Research Program - Transit Safety Research Roadmap [ Word ] [ PDF ]. Synopses and full announcement are posted on Grants.gov site as opportunity FTA-2011-011-TRI. Proposals must be submitted electronically through the Grants.gov web site by March 11, 2011.
SUMMARY: The scope of this effort is to provide a safety research roadmap to the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Office of Research, Demonstration and Innovation (TRI). The roadmap shall include the following tasks: 1) conducting an assessment of existing safety research models that could be applicable to FTA; 2) background review of transit safety data to identify areas where FTA should prioritize research efforts and; 3) how safety research should support the new FTA-sponsored rail transit safety legislation (if passed) and transit in general.
