Brian Farber was appointed Associate Administrator for Communications and Congressional Affairs by the Obama Administration on April 13, 2010.† Leading a team of media and governmental affairs professionals, Brian manages all aspects of the Federal Transit Administrationís external and internal communications as well as the agency's legislative affairs activities.
Prior to his appointment, Brian served as the Deputy Chief of Staff/Communications Director for U.S. Representative Joe Courtney, (CT-02) and as Communications Director for Mr. Courtney's 2006 and 2008 campaigns.† Brian advised the Congressman and Chief of Staff on media outreach, developed all aspects of internal and external communications strategy, and served as official spokesperson.
Brian also served as U.S. Representative Tim Bishop's (NY-01) Press Secretary/Legislative Assistant in the Congressman's Washington, DC office and as a Congressional Aide in his eastern Long Island district office.† Brian developed media opportunities in the competitive New York and Long Island media markets, organized district and Washington, DC based press conferences, and advised the Representative on legislative initiatives.
A native of Mt. Sinai, New York, Brian received his B.S. in English from the State University of New York at Buffalo and M.S. in Education at Dowling College.
