FTA’s Office of Planning and Environment provides information on environmental training opportunities to assist environmental planning staff of federal, state, and local agencies and their consultants who have responsibilities implementing National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) requirements. FTA can endorse only courses presented by the National Transit Institute, National Highway Institute, or other federal agencies. FTA cannot endorse courses offered by non-governmental organizations or consulting firms that are prepared without federal oversight, however, FTA environmental staff have found a number of such courses to be well-done and useful. Persons interested in courses offered by non-federal sources should obtain information about the content and instructors in order to make a decision whether to attend the course.
