Dear Colleague:

Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) will host the "Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Transit Real Estate Symposium 2000," November 9 through November 10, 2000. The purpose of this letter is to encourage transit agencies to participate in this biennial meeting by sending key employees who work with real estate acquisition and disposition issues. Please review DART's invitation package.

The FTA hosted the last three of these real estate conferences in Washington, D.C. The meetings proved outstanding opportunities for transit real estate professionals to meet and exchange ideas. Session discussions have been lively and beneficial. By networking, the attendees created invaluable resources for dealing with fiber optic opportunities, unique acquisition and relocation issues, and right-of-way program functions. We plan the meeting in Dallas to be similarly productive, but equally important, networks can be renewed.

The forthcoming symposium also offers an excellent means for grantees with potential New Starts projects to become acquainted with transit project real estate issues, meet experienced grantees, plus become acquainted with grantees who are in similar stages of project development.

Whether you have an established real estate program or propose starting one, I urge your agency to participate in the FTA Real Estate Symposium 2000.

Sincerely,
Nuria I. Fernandez
Acting Administrator
