What is this?

Q. “Associated capital maintenance items”—How is this defined and where can I find the definition?

A. The term “Associated Capital Maintenance Item” is used in FTA Circular 4220.1E, section 9h(1)(e), and is defined in 49 US Code Section 5307(a)(1). Following is the definition:

 Associated capital maintenance items: Equipment, tires, tubes, and material, each costing at least .5 percent of the current fair market value of rolling stock comparable to the rolling stock for which the equipment, tires, tubes, and material are to be used.
