Dear Grantees:

On February 4, 2013, the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) approved revised Disability Law Guidance concerning wheelchairs and transportation.  This replaces the previous “common wheelchair bulletin” that was issued by FTA, which became outdated following the removal of the “common wheelchair” concept by amendments made to the DOT ADA regulations in October 2011.  A copy of the revised DOT guidance has been posted to the FTA website; a direct link appears below:

This document has been approved through DOT’s Disability Law Coordinating Council as representing the official views of the Department on this matter.
