REGION 8 Bulletin No: 12-03 (PDF).

The Federal Transit Administration will host its Opening DOORS Program: Developing Opportunities, Outreach and Resources for Success on Tuesday, August 28th, 2012 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The purpose of FTA’s Opening “DOORS” (Developing Outreach, Opportunities and Resources for Success) pilot program is to:

  1. Educate transit agencies; state DOTs and prime contractors on the DBE final rule;
  2. Encourage networking amongst DBEs, small businesses and State DOT’s, transit agencies and prime contractors;
  3. Help create a marketplace where DBEs and SBEs can compete to win contracts; and
  4. Help to bridge the gap that has typically hindered States and transit agencies that have not met DBE goals.

One highlight of this event is to conduct “speed dating for businesses” whereby small businesses and DBEs will have ten minutes with representatives from transit agencies, States, and prime contractors to give their best pitch. Thus, we are asking you to participate in this event for both the training and the speed dating. Participating in this event will count toward the requirement to implement your DBE program in good faith.
