Frequently Asked Questions

Q = Question; A = Answer

Q. I am trying to learn if a particular limousine service has a DOT number. The letterhead of the proprietor lists locations of both Woonsocket, RI, and Norwood, MA.

A. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration advises that you call their regional office in Cambridge, MA, and ask to speak with an investigator about the company you referred to in your question. The phone number in Cambridge is 617-494-2770. There are exceptions to the requirement for DOT licensing, and the investigator can determine whether this company should have filed for a DOT number.
